Tips to Stay Strong with Your Resolutions January 12, 2021

“New year, new me!”

How many of us have heard or said that phrase over the past week and a half since the start of 2021? If you are like many, you might have taken stock of 2020 and set goals to make this year better than the last. You may have even borrowed some ideas from Peggie Arvidson’s blog last month, New Years Resolutions for Job Seekers, which listed seven New Year Resolutions to consider.

But if you are anything like me, you might be having some trouble keeping up with your resolutions. So, I wanted to check in with you and provide some practical advice on how you can keep those resolutions. I will do this with the help of Peggie’s resolution ideas and TYGES’ new and improved resources. By going through each resolution and pointing you to resources from TYGES, the goal is to provide you a nudge of support if you find yourself struggling.

“Don’t go it alone” and “Get out of your head”

Community is important for both goals. If you feel you need an extra avenue to brainstorm ideas or vent, reach out to TYGES’ recruiters! There have always been resources on our manufacturing and behavioral health websites for candidates to use as they move from the first to the last step in their job search. Those are still just one click away on both sites. But TYGES has made some additions! TYGES now specializes in recruiting not only in ABA Therapy but also in Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Psychotherapy. We have added sections to our behavioral health site that introduce those fields and provide resources to 3 main groups: clients, clinicians/pathologists/therapists, and families. Those resources are broad and include informational websites, job search insights, and websites that foster community within the field.

“Clarify”

I can’t tell you how many times I have spoken with candidates who have discovered an interest that wasn’t even on their radar until our conversation. Browsing pages on our website or learning about other fields can spark an interest that you never knew was there. We also have links to salary ranges and cost of living calculators that can help you determine if an option you are considering is the best choice for you and your career goals.

“Help someone succeed”

YOU are the best source for this one! Here’s what I mean: when you talk with your recruiter at TYGES, feel free to mention any other candidates that you know who may be a good fit for a role. Even if the opportunity is not a fit for you, it could be perfect for another individual, and you just might be joining us in making good things happen for other people!

“Give yourself grace”
